For BAALC, about 1.9-fold increase was seen in RNA from dbcAMP-treated astrocytes as compared to the control RNA (Fig. 3A) using a template amount of 20 ng. The expression of BAALC was also analyzed by RT-PCR in C6 glioma cells (Fig. 3B) treated with the differentiation inducing agents, viz. dbcAMP (1 mM), and staurosporine (1 nM). BAALC was found to be up regulated in dbc-treated C6 cells (9.4-fold) and to less extent in staurosporine-treated cells (1.7-fold). Up regulation of BAALC expression is thus observed both in normal and malignant astrocytes on differentiation. RT-PCR analysis demonstrated that RAMP3 expression is about 6.3-fold in control (DMSO) treated astrocytes as compared to those treated with staurosporine with a template amount of 10 ng (Fig. 4)." ;
