TCAs are structurally similar to phenothiazines. They contain a tricyclic ring system with an alkyl amine substituent on the central ring. In non-depressed individuals, amoxapine does not affect mood or arousal, but may cause sedation. In depressed individuals, amoxapine exerts a positive effect on mood. TCAs are potent inhibitors of serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake. In addition, TCAs down-regulate cerebral cortical β-adrenergic receptors and sensitize post-synaptic serotonergic receptors with chronic use. The antidepressant effects of TCAs are thought to be due to an overall increase in serotonergic neurotransmission. TCAs also block histamine H1 receptors, α1-adrenergic receptors and muscarinic receptors, which accounts for their sedative, hypotensive and anticholinergic effects (e.g. blurred vision, dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention), respectively. See toxicity section below for a complete listing of side effects. Amoxapine may be used to treat neurotic and reactive depressive disorders, endogenous and psychotic depression, and mixed symptoms of depression and anxiety or agitation."@en; dct:identifier "drugbank:DB00543"; dct:title "Amoxapine"@en; a dv:Drug; rdfs:label "Amoxapine [drugbank:DB00543]"@en; rdfs:seeAlso , , . } sub:provenance { sub:assertion prov:wasDerivedFrom . dr:bio2rdf.dataset.drugbank.R3 dcat:distribution . dct:created "2015-01-09T17:00:50-05:00"^^xsd:dateTime; prov:wasDerivedFrom . pav:retrievedOn "2014-11-12T07:57:03-05:00"^^xsd:dateTime; prov:wasDerivedFrom . prov:wasAttributedTo . } sub:publicationInfo { sub:signature.MC0CFCGHr5FF3CUo npx:hasPublicKey "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"; npx:hasSignature "MC0CFCGHr5FF3CUojvd4jUKUB0TPQMPSAhUAkrfWAo60KQXIJ19vSALfaUrxenA="; npx:signedBy instance: . this: dct:created "2018-03-30T11:11:16.377+02:00"^^xsd:dateTime; dct:license ; npx:hasSignatureElement sub:signature.MC0CFCGHr5FF3CUo; prov:wasGeneratedBy process: . instance: prov:specializationOf codebase:; prov:wasAttributedTo orcid:0000-0002-1267-0234 . process: dct:identifier "7720f136-841b-4851-a6e4-ad20a409a475"; prov:used version:; prov:wasAssociatedWith instance:; prov:wasStartedBy orcid:0000-0002-1267-0234 . version: dct:isVersionOf codebase:; pav:version "eda7951a5f6c622c5d2132f50c3093138484a349"; prov:wasAttributedTo orcid:0000-0002-1267-0234 . }
