A signal was accepted when the average intensity after background subtraction was at least 2.5-fold higher than its local background. The three intensity values of the triplicate DNA spots were averaged and used to calculate the intensity ratio between the reference and the test samples. The data were normalized in two steps. Ratios outside the 95% confidence interval were determined to be significantly different [8,18,19].
